Note of the day (49) Some journalists and the so-called specialist of Cambodian affairs wrote and said that Prince Ranariddh is crazy, again, in willing to oppose and fight the Cpp. It will be, in advance, a lost battle. We'd like, in this respect, to remind that, several times, the Prince has clarified to those who would like to listen, the following: 1- It is out side of the question, the will to fight the Cpp and touch upon the "untouchable" Cpp's electorates. It is unnecessary and dangerous. 2- The NRP must concentrate on the electors who are likely to vote for it: the royalists and Sihanoukists in the first place. Those, who, in particular, voted for the truly royalist, Sihanoukists Fcp in 1993 and who are again ready to vote for Prince Ranariddh; those people are mainly members of the NRP and the Fcp. We also find them in the opposition parties such as the Srp and Hrp. In other words, one should concentrate on the three millions of electors who voted for the opposition parties, those who are divided and not capable of being united facing the Cpp. To do so, one should also try to attract the electors of the Srp and Hrp, in particular those who came from the Nrp and Fcp. We must also try to attract the two millions of registered voters who, for some reasons, did not vote in 2008. From this simple demonstration, it is clear that it is not necessary to attack or attract the Cpp' electors. 3- What Prince Ranariddh is willing to do, is to reunify those potential electors: the Royalists, Sihanoukists, Democrats and Patriots, who, divided and disappointed by their own parties (Fcp, Srp and Hrp), but they are real patriots and wishing to serve their homeland and to improve the current situation, and that, in the framework of a true royalist party, the NRP. Once united, they represent a true political force in Cambodia. Prince Ranariddh then proposes his "middle path" policy, which consists not to oppose the Cpp, but to cooperate with the latter for altogether, as a real partner, serving the country. The Royalists, Sihanoukists, and others Democrats, are also Cambodians and Patriots. They must therefore have the right to serve the country. A last condition, in order to become a real and credible political force, they must be organized and have representatives, in consistent numbers, in the framework of the National Assembly, Senate, the Commune, District and Provincial Council etc. and inside the governmental and administrative structures of the country. In Cambodia, according to the NEC, there were more than eight millions of registered voters in 2008. Among them, more than three millions voted for the Cpp. The others three millions were divided among the opposition parties. The remaining mostly two millions did not vote. In conclusion and mathematically speaking, it is by no mean to touch upon the "untouchable" CPP! Sam Nora
